This
very striking and unique rose, a sport of Eugene Furst, has
blooms of a deep maroon that is edged with fine white lines. Growth
habit is upright and ungainly with long arching canes which is typical
of hybrid perpetuals. The blooms are quite beautiful although the
color is quick to fade after one day. Blackspot has been a recurrent
problem with this rose in my garden and is especially bad during hot
dry periods. This rose has never been a heavy bloomer for me and I
suspect that it needs more sun. I have it planted in a slightly shady
area and plan to move it this year.
