Much smaller than most rugosas, Fru Dagmar Hastrup only grows to about 3 or 4 feet tall. It is a good choice for the smaller garden.

The blooms are single and begin as deep pink which slowly unfurl to pale silvery pink with yellow stamens. The foliage is a luxuriant green and crinkled which is typical of the rugosas and the leaves turn purple and gold after the first frost. It also develops a healthy crop of very large rose hips in the autumn. The hips, coupled with a sprinkling of fall blooms, make a beautiful combination.
