The
Name of the Rose - Named after a former editor of The American
Rose Annual who died of cancer at a young age.
This
rose was bred from a miniature and a rugosa and is classified as a
rugosa. It is much difference from most rugosas, most notably in the
flower color and form. Blooms are brilliant red and are formed in
3" clusters, sometimes 20 or more on a stem. The canes are almost
thornless, another major difference from most rugosas. If Linda
Campbell has a fault, it would probably be a lack of scent. My
plant does not get full sun (but it blooms nicely) and I attribute
that to its upright narrow habit. In sunnier conditions, you can expect
the rose to get much wider.
