The
Name of the Rose - Named for the mother-in-law of Dr. Bill
Welch, who collected the rose from her Louisiana garden.
The
Antique Rose Emporium (who sells the rose) says that this might possibly
be Eugene E. Marlitt, but no positive identification has yet been
made. A
large bush produces large, double, crimson flowers that have a spicy
scent. Please forgive the terrible photograph.
I have
to confess that my success with this rose has been limited. It has
been an awkward grower and a stingy bloomer. This could be due to
poor placement and I'm planning to move her to another spot this year.
