The
Name of the Rose - Also known as "Red Ballerina"
and "Red Yesterday."
This
rose is a seedling of 'Ballerina'
and it is almost identical to it except in color. The huge clusters
of bright fuchsia blooms with white centers are profuse and really
stand out in the crowd. In many respects, this rose surpasses it's
parent. It is a fast grower and, like 'Ballerina', makes
a lovely cascading fountain shaped shrub. It can also be trained as
a climber although I have never seen it grown this way. 'Marjorie'
definitely surpasses 'Ballerina' in the disease resistance
department. I have experienced severe blackspot problems with 'Ballerina'
but this rose remains disease free. The color of the blooms are very
intense though and those concerned with color combinations may have
problems placing it. Otherwise, plant it and enjoy.
