The Name of the Rose - Named after the breeder's wife.

Typically, David Austin's roses have come in soft pastel colors but Pat Austin is a notable exception. Two famous parents ('Graham Thomas' and 'Abraham Darby') have produced a bright orange and copper colored marvel that definitely stands out in the landscape. The flowers are large, semi-double and somewhat loose in habit. The bright orange color is complimented by a yellow reverse and they age to a soft pink. The petals curve inward so that you can barely see the bright red stamens inside. One annoying characteristic are weak stems which cause the blooms to nod.

This rose will stand out in any setting and is a good candidate for a border or on both sides of an entrance. The strong colors contrast beautifully against the green of conifers and boxwoods. This would also make a lovely container rose.

Disease resistance is only fair as blackspot is a problem.
