This
popular rugosa was raised by Dr. W. Van Fleet in 1926. It is a large
rose, growing up to 6 feet high and 4 feet wide. The flowers are a
soft ruffled pink with bright gold stamens. It reblooms frequently,
even in the heat of midsummer. The foliage is an attractive green
but it has a tendency to be bare around the base. This is a good rose
to use as a hedge (it is very prickly!) or simply as a striking specimen
plant. This is one of the best rugosas for the extreme hot areas of
the South (like Texas).
Mary
Manners is a white sport of this rose.
