The Meidiland
series of roses are an outstanding choice for the home landscape.
Scarlet Meidiland makes a mounding shrub (about 5 feet high
x 8 feet wide in my garden) and is covered with clusters of bright
scarlet blossoms. It can be kept smaller by pruning. A popular nursery
catalog claims that this rose will do well in shade, however, my experience
has proved otherwise. I first planted Scarlet Meidiland on
a shady hillside and it just sat there. After I moved it to a location
in full sun, it took off and has shown no signs of stopping. Disease
resistant. Blooms sporadically throughout the summer. See also Alba
Meidiland.
