Aster
frikartii
(aka
Frikart's daisy and Michaelmas daisy)
Hardy
to Zone 5
Bloom Time - Fall (September until frost)
Color - Lavender with yellow center
Foliage - Medium green
Size - 2-3 ft.
Exposure - Full sun or light shade
Culture - This beautiful aster is a must for the
fall garden and is right at home in a cottage garden or
a formal garden. It is easy to grow provided that you
give it reasonably good soil and drainage. Multiple plants
should be placed at least two feet apart. Despite its
delicate appearance, this is a stout perennial and won't
flop all over the place after a hard rain. It can be easily
divided to share with friends or plant elsewhere in the
garden. Its most admirable attribute, in addition to the
lovely color, is a long bloom period.
