(aka Fairy Fan Flower)

Bloom Time - Spring through fall
Color - Blue, purple, pink or white
Foliage - Hairy, lance-shaped, green leaves

Culture - Easy to grow in containers or in the ground. Full sun or filtered sun is fine. Carefree, easy to grow. Drought tolerant but performs best with regular watering.

Comments - Here is a great annual that comes from Australia. Fan Flower is a drought tolerant plant that grows low and sprawls widely. As you can see in my photo, it has pretty much taken over the other plants in my container. Thus, it is probably better suited to be planted alone in a container or hanging basket. It can also be grown in the ground and I intend to try that next year. It blooms profusely all summer long and the blue flowers are very showy. The flowers are about 1 inch across and the five petals are in a half circle, all on one side, which makes them look like little hand fans.
