Hybrid
Musk Roses
This
is my personal favorite class of roses. They were developed by Joseph
Pemberton and the Bentall family in the early 1900s. These roses are
versatile and can be used as climbers on pillars and arches or as
shrubs. They make wonderful landscape plants because their arching
branches cascade gracefully in a fountain effect. They tend to bloom
in clusters and make a splash in the spring and sometimes again in
the fall. The color range is wide, from delicate pinks, yellows and
apricots to vibrant reds. Hybrid musk roses are delicate in appearance
but don't let them fool you - they are tough roses that can withstand
a wide range of soil conditions and temperatures and, best of all,
they bloom well with a limited amount of sun. I have some beautiful
specimens that bloom their heads off with as little as four hours
of sun.
