The
Name of the Rose - The name means "golden dreams"
or "dream of gold" in French.
I first
saw this rose in the garden of Pat Henry, owner of Roses Unlimited,
in Laurens, South Carolina. She had it growing on a large twig structure
and it was a breathtaking sight.
This
is a vigorous grower, easily reaching heights of 15 feet or more.
It can be used to cover archways, pergolas or gazebos. The canes are
thin and flexible when young making them easy to work with.
The flowers
are buff yellow, loose, semi-double and strongly scented. They fade
to a soft yellow and the color holds well. The foliage is equally
attractive, starting out red and becoming a darker green.
A sport,
William Allen Richardson, is richer in color.
